Doing the backroads of Egypt tour at start of April, excited but nervous! Any tips for this one? I've read that the desert is cold at night, how cold? Will I need loads of warm clothes? This is my first adventure type holiday so not sure what to expect lol

It may not be as cold for you because i'm sure April is one of their warmer months, but my cousins and i visited around November - December which were winter months, what we found (I was really lucky to be travelling for my first time with seasoned travellers), was that one big jumper our sleeping bags and then lots of thinner clothes that we were able to layer worked best.
While we were in Siwa (an oasis near the Libiyan border)and St Catherine (Mt Sinai) we needed our jumpers and sleeping bags, everywhere else our long sleeved shirts were fine.
I wouldn't pack alot of warm clothes - you're probably taking jeans- as most people do, then a big jumper and one or two long sleeved shirts would be all i'd take. I think i had a pair of heavy stockings with me which i wore (under my jeans) up Mt Sinai - we went at some ungodly hour of morning so we could be up the top to see the sunrise.
I hope you enjoy your trip. =)
