Get away from it all in the Flinders Ranges

Imaginative travellers hoping for a relaxing getaway in the Australian Outback might want to consider heading to the Flinders Ranges.

According to the South Australia Tourism Commission, explorers could be interested in visiting the recently-reopened Arkaba homestead, which "offers all the comforts of a boutique hotel" and contains no telephones or televisions.

It explained that the accommodation provides tenants with great access to the spectacular surroundings too, where people can go on walking safaris, wildlife viewings, scenic flights and mountain biking, which could make it ideal for an adventure holiday.

The body went on to state that the area has been shaped as a result of "millions of years of rain and sun, creating a fractured landscape of rugged gorges, furrowed valleys with cypress pines, dry creek beds lined with river red gums and amazing vistas across miles of outback plain".

Lonely Planet advises people making the trip to the Flinders Ranges should also check out the Aboriginal cave paintings and rock carvings at Yourambullla and Sacred Canyon.
