Imaginative travellers who struggle to keep their luggage within the weight limit when they take a holiday may wish to consider packing less reading material. On average, British travellers take a minimum of three books with them on a trip, but many admit to being over-zealous as they do not manage to read more than one or two. This is according to Hotels.com, which revealed all of this excess weight in suitcases could be costing imaginative explorers a total of £1.5 billion in airline charges.
Older imaginative travellers seek adventure and new cultures when taking a trip, according to a new study. Research carried out by Saga revealed 17 per cent of travellers over 50 wanted to experience adventure travel when overseas and 32 per cent of imaginative explorers hoped to experience new cultures. Feeling refreshed both mentally and physically was a priority for 45 per cent of those aged over-50 and seven per cent valued meeting new people.
Holidaymakers are still not getting the best deals when it comes to exchanging their travel money as they are confused by fluctuating exchange rates. This is according to Dan Moore, senior researcher at Which? Money, who gave some advice to imaginative travellers on how to get the most from their currency. "What you need to be doing is avoiding paying charges you don't need to pay. For example, don't buy currency online where you have to pay with a card and will be charged," he explained.
